Flower Farm Employee
Location: Nugents Corner area, outskirts of Bellingham
Position Type: 2 seasonal positions (with potential to grow into year-round)
Hours: Part-time-10-14hrs per week. Full-time 28-30 hrs per week Mon-Thur.
Pay: DOE (starting $20-24hr)
Applications close: Feb 1 with start date of March 1.
About the Farm
We are a 10-acre flower farm in the beautiful foothills outside Bellingham, working to restore former organic vegetable land into a thriving, blooming paradise. Our focus is on growing high-quality cut flowers for local wholesale accounts, farmers markets, weddings, and on-farm events. As the farm expands, we are looking for enthusiastic, hardworking individuals to join our small team and help bring more locally grown blooms to Whatcom County.
Position Overview
The Flower Farm Employee will assist with daily farm operations involved in cut-flower production. This is a hands-on, outdoor position ideal for someone who enjoys physical work, plants, and being part of a growing local business. Willingness to work in all outdoor conditions.
Primary Responsibilities
Planting, seeding, and transplanting flowers
Harvesting cut flowers and foliage
Weeding, mulching, bed preparation, and irrigation tasks
Assisting with greenhouse work and propagation
Processing flowers: stripping stems, bunching, and organizing orders
Helping prepare bouquets for market days
Assisting with local clients when needed
General farm maintenance and cleanup
Assist with on farm events
Skills & Qualifications
Required:
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Comfortable with repetitive physical labor (lifting, bending, standing for long periods)
Reliable transportation to the farm
Strong attention to detail and care in handling delicate flowers
Positive attitude and willingness to learn
Ability to follow directions and work both independently and as part of a team
Preferred but Not Required:
Previous farming experience
Interest in flowers and growing
Experience working with tools and small equipment
Knowledge of plant care or organic growing practices

Work Environment
This job involves working primarily outside on uneven terrain. Tasks can be fast-paced during peak harvest months. No two days are exactly alike—spring focuses on weeding, planting and greenhouse work, while summer and fall revolve around harvesting and fulfilling orders.
